Cachi Lipe Group
The members have a variety of businesses including food selling, cheese selling, driver, cattle selling, and sheep selling. Catalina is one of the small business people who will benefit from the loan. She has been working with Pro Mujer for three years after joining at the invitation of an advisor who came to her house. Currently Catalina has a business selling cheese, which she began at the suggestion of her mother.
The loan she is seeking will be used to grow her business. She plans to buy some cows in the nearby community markets and then after making the cheese she will sell it in her local market. This will enable her to generate an income to help her family as much as possible. She is married and has five children.
Catalina most enjoys the health training sessions provided by Pro Mujer.
This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
