Lolita is married with four adult daughters. She is 60 years old and lives in Bintana, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental. Lolita sells bananas to earn a living and has had this business for three years. Each month, she earns PHP 4,000 from doing this type of work.
Lolita has requested a loan of 10,000 PHP to to buy more bananas for her buy-and-sell banana business. She has been a member of PMPC for two years. In the future, Lolita hopes to improve her living conditions by using the profits from her business.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
