Chhean is 50 years old, married, and blessed with five grown children. Four of her children are already settled for marriage and live independently. Chhean devotes herself to a farming business to support her family, while her husband makes mortars and pestles from granite stone. They appreciate their businesses because they really offer great help for their family.
In order to serve her family with basic transportation so that they can get around easily, Chhean would like to take out a loan from HKL and Kiva to purchase a motorcycle for personal use. She is very happy that Kiva lenders always turn their attention to low-income families such as hers, so that they will be able to improve their living conditions.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
