Dancing has been Lesa’s passion since she was two years old. Today, she is an accomplished dancer and is trained in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Most recently, Lesa made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent with her dance group. Her approach to dancing has always been very eclectic, as she seeks to integrate the art of dancing with physical training and healthy living. In her words, “The strongest athletes make the best dancers.”
In 2009, Lesa opened her own dance studio, MIX, to teach her unique approach to dancing. She is a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor and integrates these disciplines into her dance training. Her students range from 16 to 62 years old, and she regularly offers scholarships to disadvantaged youth that give them the opportunity receive free dance training.
It has always been Lesa’s dream to own her own dance studio and practice her unique training methods. Currently, the studio has a broken air-conditioning system that makes it almost unbearable for her students to train when it gets hot. She will use her Kiva loan to repair the air-conditioning and also purchase new signage to help attract new clients.
