Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $775 helped a member to buy stock merchandise for her store.

Gs Sor Dionicia Group's story

Cruz, 44, is single and lives with her two grandchildren and her youngest son who helps her with the store. She does not own a house and has worked as a grocer for several years; she sells basic staple items. She is the group leader since she’s the person who has kept the group working together.

Cruz is asking for a 5000 Lempira loan to buy soft-drinks, snacks, noodles, vegetables, dairy products, chicken, bread, coffee, sugar, beans, rice, lard, canned goods and meats. With support from this loan, Cruz intends to meet the need her business has for financing and continue forward with her project which is to enlarge the grocery store and buy a piece of property to build her house on. She’s very happy to continue working with PRISMA as long as it continues supporting her and to use profits earned by the store to buy a lot to build her house. Cruz’s dream is to stay in business and improve the store as well as to make her dream of owning a house a reality.

Alcida and Yenifer work full-time in their businesses since they are their main source of income.
