Kong
Kong is 49 years old and married with five grown-up children, one of whom is employed while the rest are still students at a local school. Kong is raising his family in a small village of the Baray district, where he works in a rice-farming business and a horse-transportation business. Despite the hardship of his living conditions, he aims to improve his current businesses to increase his income, and thus satisfy his family's needs. One of the most important things is to provide a higher education for his children, so that they might have a better future.

Kong would like to renovate his present house so as to ensure comfortable living conditions for his family. Kong is taking out a loan of 2,000,000 KHR to purchase a dump truck to excavate dirt to fill the lower part of his house, which will prevent his house from getting flooded. He hopes to improve the living conditions of his family.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
