Roert, a mother of three children, is also one of the breadwinners in the family living in Thmor Koul district, Cambodia. She manages her one hectare of rice-cultivation farmland in order to support her household while her husband also supplements the family's income via fish catching for sale. She has been engaged in paddy farming for about one year. For this cycle, Roert has joined VisionFund as a first-time borrower. She is seeking a loan in the amount of 300 US dollars to buy fertilizer for her farmland; she will also use a portion of it to buy a grill net for supporting the fish-catching business of her husband. She hopes to make more income from her business so as to better her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
