Yasmine is a 39-year-old Lebanese woman. She lives with her husband and five school-aged children. With her husband's cooperation, she is able to meet her family's needs and offer them a decent way of living. Yasmine owns a small minimarket where she sells a variety of dairy and daily-use products in addition to soft drinks and many other items. Today, she’s asking for a loan from Kiva Partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase food provisions for her minimarket. This loan will enable her to diversify her stock, thereby increasing her revenues and thus her income. Yasmine looks forward to expanding her grocery. In the future, she hopes to open other branches and assign her children ownership of these branches.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
