Leonila, 45, is a widow with four children who resides in Balugo, Tambulig. She owns and operates farm land, planting and harvesting rice to sell to earn a living, a business she's been in for six years. Each month, she earns 6,000 PHP doing this type of business.
Leonila has requested a loan of 7,000 PHP to purchase fertilizers such as manure. She joined GDMPC in 2009. In the future, Leonila wants to make improvements to her house and to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
