The customer, Kavira, is the leader of the Nuru group. She is about 33 years old, married and the mother of 3 children. This customer plays an active role in the creation of jobs. She works in a dressmaking and sewing workshop. She and her husband work together in this business. She started her business by buying a sewing machine with her own funds, after having been a victim of a natural catastrophe - the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano in 2002. Later on, she received a loan from the MFI Hekima to augment her funds. She has just completed 19 loan cycles.

Kavira sets up her workshop at the central market of Virunga. This new loan will be used to buy items including fabric with which to make women's clothing and men's jackets, buttons, poplin, paper and scissors. She also aims to move her business and re-establish it close to the centre of town, to gain more visibility and new markets. The customer thanks Hekima for its actions to support disadvantaged people excluded from regular bank lending channels.

Elle sociétaire d’un atelier de coupe couture. Elle s’entraide avec son mari dans cette activité. Elle commença son business avec son fond propre par l’achat d’une machine à coudre, alors, après avoir été victime d’une catastrophe naturelle de l ‘éruption du volcan Nyiragongo vers les années 2002. Plus tard, elle bénéficia de crédit de l’IMF Hekima pour le renforcement. Elle vient de réaliser 19 cycles des crédits. Elle installe son atelier au le marché central de Virunga. Ce nouveau crédit doit lui servir d’approvisionner de tissus dames, tissus pour confection veste pour hommes, boutons,popeline, papiers, ciseaux, etc. En plus, elle ambitionne déménager et s’installe vers le centre ville pour plus de visibilité et gagner plus des marchés. La cliente remercie Hekima pour ses actions en faveur de pauvres exclus de banque classique.

HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities. Despite ongoing instability and violence in its operating areas, HEKIMA continues to keep its doors open and provide credit and savings services for its over 90% female clientele.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
