Tomasa is a 55-year-old widow. She did not have the opportunity to study, and she has no children. She makes a living planting, growing and selling flowers. She began this business with the help of her mother, and thus far has 40 years of experience.

She gets a group together so she can buy seeds and in this way plant more flowers, to improve her income. She also hopes to have a chicken farm. The other group members do craftwork, produce woven belts and clothing articles, grow and sell fruit, and grow flowers.

La señora Tomasa es viuda, tiene 55 años de edad, no tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar, no tiene hijos, se dedica al cultivo y siembra de flores y a su venta, inicio este negocio con la ayuda de su mamá y hasta el momento lleva 40 años de experiencia.

Organiza un grupo para poder comprar semilla y así poder sembrar mas flores, para mejorar sus ingresos, también espera tener una granja de pollos. Lo demás integrantes se dedican a la artesanía, producción de fajas y cortes, cultivo de frutas para la venta, y al cultivo de flores.

About Asociación ASDIR

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
