Kennedy is a father of six children aged between 14 and 2 years old and he is also a farm with four successive years in active farming. He produces maize, bananas and beans for the local market to meet his family's needs.
Kennedy has requested a loan of 31,200 KES from Kiva partner Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow. He says the income will go into meeting his family's basic needs. He plans to run a farm of at least three dairy cows and buy a motorcycle to ensure timely and cheaper deliveries of the farm produce to the market.
He mentions that there are poor roads networks and animal diseases that effect his business. He appreciates Juhudi Kilimo's loan services.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
