Pamela is the mother of a six-year-old child. For the past two consecutive years, she has been a farmer who raises cereals, milk, fruits, and vegetables for the local market. Pamela says that the poor prices for farm produce in the local markets remains her major business challenge.
Pamela is requesting a 45,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to help construct a zero-grazing unit in her farm. This will help her to manage her feed cost which is the greatest cost element in her dairy farming business. In the future, Pamela plans to buy two more acres of land to do major banana farming.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
