Maria Esmeralda
María is a 39-year-old woman who lives in the city of Chiclayo with her three children. She loves her children who are the main reason for her life. Unfortunately, for various reasons, she separated from her partner and since then has been both father and mother to her children.

She is a very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic person who dedicates all her efforts to moving her family forward. Unfortunately, due to the need to work to pay her bills, María was not able to study for a professional career in education, which she greatly wanted to do. In her spare time, she enjoys watching television and occasionally she cooks a delicious “Tallarines Rojos” to share with her family.

With a great deal of effort and dedication, María opened a small grocery store. She works every day from early in the morning and puts in approximately 12 hours a day. She believes her business is doing well because of the variety of her inventory and because of her friendly treatment of customers.

María is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, she was able to purchase merchandise for her business, such as rice, sugar, milk, oil, pasta and mixed vegetables, among other items. In this way, she will have a better stocked business. Thus she expects to increase her sales and income, which she will save little by little so that she can insure the well-being and education of her children for she dreams of seeing them become good professionals and upstanding men.
