Luy is 59 years old and is a noble woman who lives in Ornlong Veng district, Oddar Meanchey province. She is married with three children, two of whom are currently married and live separately while the remaining child is single and lives under the same roof with her. To earn a living, Luy is involved in three business ventures at the same time: rice farming, traditional wine-distilling, and hog-raising. From these businesses, she is able to yield a better income, which she uses to satisfy her living needs.
Luy is requesting a loan from HKL, one of Kiva's partner, to purchase necessary farm supplies such as a water pump, fertilizers, and insecticides to apply on her rice crops. In the future, she plans to save money to buy extra farmland to increase her production.
