Chreng is a 30-year-old father who pays his full devotion to a farming business and to his family. He is married with two dependent children who live together with him and his wife in Ornlong Veng district of Oddar Meanchey province. Chreng has been operating the farming business for over 10 years with great assistance from his wife. Together, they are able to earn approximately 10,000 KHR each day and it seems barely enough to cover their daily costs. Chreng and his wife plan to purchase extra farmland to expand the volume of their production if they can afford to do it in the years to come.
At the present, Chreng has applied for a loan from HKL and Kiva to supplement his existing capital to pay for labor costs incurred in planting rice and to purchase a few sacks of fertilizers to keep healthier crops. Chreng will feel happy and thankful if he can receive the loan from generous lenders. He mentioned that it’ll be very useful and helpful for the maintenance of his farm work.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
