Perfecto
Perfecto is a 71-year-old man. He lives with his wife and his mother, who is of an advanced age, in a community called Osa, which is located in Caña Blanca in the province of Puntarenas. This community is a much-visited rural area known for its beautiful beaches and wildlife. The main economic activities here are tourism and agriculture.
Perfecto says that he is the sole economic support for his family. He buys calves and fattens them up until they are ready to sell in the local cattle market. He is currently requesting a loan of a million colones (c1,000,000) in order to buy calves and begin the process of fattening them up and selling them for a good price.
Perfecto is a member of the Communal Credit Business of Caña Blanca, one of the 150 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. Thanks to the organization and the ease of obtaining credit, he is able to improve his quality of life.

Perfecto es un señor de 71 años de edad, vive con su esposa y su madre quien es de edad avanzada en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal , en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus hermosas playas y la variedad de fauna que posee. Sus principales actividades económicas son el turismo y la agricultura.

Perfecto nos comenta que el único ingreso económico en la familia es el suyo, él se dedica a comprar ganado pequeño lo alimenta hasta que obtenga el peso adecuado y lo vende en las ferias ganaderas locales, en este momento está solicitando un crédito de un millón de colones (¢1.000.000) para comprar terneros e iniciar el proceso de engorde y luego venderlos a buen precio.

Perfecto es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 150 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica,destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede mejorar su calidad de vida.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
