Rolbin
Rolbin is thirty-three years old and married with three little children. He is the family's only source of income. He lives with his wife and children in a community called Osa, located in Caña Blancal, in the province of Puntareñas. This community is noted for being an often-visited rural area because of its beautiful beaches and the diversity of its fauna and flora. Tourism and agriculture are the principal economic activities.

Rolbin is in urgent need of a motorcycle to transport himself to work since he lives many kilometers from where he works. Moreover, he affirms that he will use the motorcycle on the weekends, loaning his services to local restaurants to deliver fast food to the home. In this way he will earn a little extra money for home expenses.

Rolbin is currently requesting a micro loan of one million colones (¢1.000.000) to buy the motorcycle that they are offering him and to be able to achieve his goal.

He is a member of the Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, one of the 110 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. With this loan he hopes to improve in part his economic situation.

Rolbin es un joven de 33 años de edad, casado, tiene tres hijos pequeños, con un único ingreso familiar que es el suyo, vive con su esposa e hijos, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal , en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus bellas playas y la diversidad de fauna y flora que posee .Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.

Rolbin está urgido de comprar una motocicleta para trasladarse al trabajo ya que vive a varios kilómetros del mismo, además manifiesta que los fines de semana usará la motocicleta para prestar sus servicios a restaurantes locales entregando comidas rápidas a domicilio, de esta manera obtendrá un dinero extra para los gastos del hogar.

Lo que en estos momentos solicita Rolbin es un micro crédito de un millón de colones (¢1.000.000), para comprar la motocicleta que le están ofreciendo y poder lograr su objetivo.

El es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 110 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo espera mejorar en parte su situación económica.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
