Living in a rural village located in the Kandal Stoeng district, Rorn is 37 years old and married. She has three children, two of whom are dependent on her and still in school while the other is a garment factory worker. Rorn is a rice farmer in the local area while her husband is a motor taxi driver to help support the family's earnings. She and her husband have been in these businesses for 15 years and 10 years, respectively. Together, they can earn about 8 USD per day.
This is the first loan for Rorn with Kiva's partner VisionFund. Now requesting a loan, she is going to use it to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use a portion of it for land plowing. She hopes this loan will enable her to grow her rice strong and also hopes to improve her family's living condition.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
