Hilarion
Hilarion is 53-years-old and has been married for more than 30 years. They live in the community of Chullpani Grande towards southern Colomi. They know how to read and write. They have two small children, a humble family. Hilarion works in transport service in the Sindicato de Autotransporte Mixto (Mixed Transport Union) with a route from Colomi to Cochabamba to back. They are also farmers. Every year they sell 70 loads of potatoes, 80 loads of hay, 10 of ulluco, 10 of another tuber. Mostly his wife works growing on two hectares of land inherited from her parents. She hires temporary employees for land preparation, planting, cultivation labors, and harvesting. This way, they get economic resources to maintain their family. Hilarion tells us that that he had construction done on the two-story house. They invested all the savings they had but they don't have money for the fine workmanship. With this opportunity, they will have a comfortable home to live more happier with the two children who are still with them.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
