Arif, who is 46 years old, lives in Agsu, Azerbaijan, with his wife and four chilldren.
He owns and manages a variety store in their village, selling grocery items and some fruits and vegetables. Arif has been in this business for 15 years.
Arif is a very hard-working entrepreneur. He asked a loan of 2,000 AZN to buy additional stocks for sale. In the future, he would like to save money to expand his business and to buy new house for his son.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
