Channy
Channy, 25, lives with her husband and four children in a village in Battambang province’s Moung Russey district in Cambodia. Her children, two daughters and two sons, are in school. To make a living, Channy and her husband have been farming rice for almost ten years as well as raising chickens to sell.

Channy has been with Kiva’s partner VisionFund for two loan cycles and has completely paid back these loans. With them she has managed to improve her family’s living standards and send her children to school.

Presently, Channy can earn about 27,800 KHR a day from her farming. She is requesting another loan of 2,000,000 KHR from VisionFund to buy fertilizer for her rice paddy and feed for her chickens. She hopes to continue improving her family members’ lives.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
