Meshack is a father of three children aged between 12 and 6 years, and are all schooling. He is aged 32 and has six solid years in mixed farming with dairy, poultry, and maize farming being the key areas. He has no other source of income to meet his family’s needs.
Meshack has made a loan request of 50,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help him boost his poultry farming business. He is optimistic that the skills he has acquired in the six years in farming will make him reap the best returns from the loans. He wants to specialize in rearing broilers.
He mentions inadequate capital as the main challenge in the farming business.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
