Violet is a farmer and a resident of Kitale in Western Kenya, where she has practiced mixed farming for nine solid years with maize and dairy being the main produce she sells to the local market to provide income to meet her family's needs.
Violet's loan request of 41,600 Kenya shillings (KES) from Juhudi Kilimo will help her buy and insure a dairy cow. She will use the income to repay the loan and provide the family with basic needs. Her plan is to acquire more land to give room for a major farming expansion.
She says pests, high cost of farm inputs, and unreliable rains are her major challenges.
