A loan of $800 helped to purchase perfume, creams, cosmetics and tents.

Patricia Amarilis's story

In San Clemente resort in Sucre canton, the “1 de Diciembre” Communal Bank meets every 15 days. The place is known for its beautiful beaches, which are heavily visited by both national and international tourists. It offers a diversity of beautiful places and a variety of delicious traditional regional dishes.

Sra. Patricia lives in this place. She is 30 years old, married and has three children from this relationship. The children are 9, 7 and 3 years old and the two older ones are studying in school. Her husband is a fisherman and he also occasionally carries freight on a motorcycle taxi.

She is a great homemaker who sells shoes and Yanbal products (beauty items, cosmetics, perfumes and ladies accessories) in order to earn her own income. She sells door to door and works three days a week for two or three hours every day and at other times when she is not busy. She sells on credit and collects every week. In addition she and her husband rent chairs and tents on weekends to tourists who arrive there. They have had this business for 10 years and it is going very well.

This loan is to purchase perfume, creams, cosmetics and tents because those they have now are damaged and they need to replace them. She has been in the communal bank for more than four years and she likes it because of the help she receives through loans.

Her dream is to finish her house since there is still a lot to do.
