Eter, age 55, is engaged in an agricultural business to earn a living. She has a plot of land where she grows plums, pomegranates, cherries, and persimmons. She sells her harvested produce on the local open market.
Eter lives in a small village in Gardabani District with her son Spartak, her daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren, ages two and six. The elder grandchild studies in the village school and the younger goes to kindergarten. Eter's son works in construction and receives a service fee for his work. The total average monthly income of the family is 1,000 Laris.
Eter has requested a loan in order to purchase milk cows. With these, she will be able to produce cheese, which she will sell on the local open market. In this way, she intends to expand her agricultural business in order to it make more profitable. With the increased profits, she will be able to reinvest in her business as well as to be able to better provide for the family’s daily needs and complete essential renovations to the house. As a result, Eter will be able to give offer her family better living conditions.
