Dinah is 29 years old, married, and has three children between the ages of 12 and 6. She has been actively farming in her rural home area for three years. Farming is her sole source of income, which she uses to meet her family's basic needs. Her farm products are milk and fruits.
Dinah has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to construct a zero-grazing unit for her dairy cows, as well as construct feed storage for them. She says the storage will enable her to buy feeds during the rainy seasons at cheaper costs for her dairy animals. She is optimistic she will be able to educate her children with her farming income.
She appreciates Juhudi Kilimo's services to small farmers and points out pests and diseases as her business challenges.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
