Benu is fifty-three and married. He lives with his wife and three children aged 24, 22 and 19. He was working at a garment factory as a daily laborer away from his home until he met with an accident while working. The physical condition of his legs did not permit him to continue work there. His physical disability limited the kind of work he can do. Since then his wife and his elder son have been working hard to support the family. His elder son had to drop out of school to work as a day laborer in the paddy fields.
He wants to start a vegetable shop near the market and generate revenue to increase cash flows for his family despite his disability. He requested a loan of 30,000 Indian Rupees (INR) to make a cabin (a house for his vegetable shop) and to purchase the vegetables. The earnings from his business will help him to strengthen his economic status and provide the basic needs for his family.
