Ivan is an old client of Ugafode Microfinance Ltd, dealing in general merchandise. He runs a retail shop at a trading centre, a few kilometres from Kyotera town council, Rakai district. He is taking a loan of Uganda shillings 1,700,000 to buy sugar, salt, soap, omo, kitchen utensils, among other items, to restock his shop. Ivan has been getting loans from the institution for the last four years and, therefore, this is his sixth cycle. In addition to his shop, he has several sources of income ranging from raising cows and using a motorcycle for public transport to running a small bar. His customers are the local people. He hopes that, with this loan, his business will boom and he will meet the needs of his customers as well as raising money to take care of his rather extended family Ivan gives many thanks to Ugafode for making him what he is today and promises to work harder and one day start up a supermarket.
