Khanbaba is a 50-year-old trader who sells products such as toothpaste, soap, washing powder and other detergents. He has 15 years of experience in this field. He also raises seasonal fruits and vegetables, however this shop brings him a more stable income.
Khanbaba is married and has four children. His shop located in the central bazaar and his son helps him sell the goods. His monthly income is 200 AZN. Khanbaba applied for a loan of 1500 AZN to purchase more goods and to diversify his products.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
