Greetings from Peru, Here the Grupo Las Emprendedoras is presented.

Gloria sells beauty products. She began this business to help her husband and contribute some money to the household expenses. The products that she offers are very necessary for her neighbors and friends. For the most part they request perfumes, powders, creams and general make up. She works in this business during the week. On Saturdays and Sundays she sells tamales which she learned to prepare by asking the vendors where she lives. She currently sells about 100 tamales that she goes out to sell to her customers, whom adore her and are loyal customers.

Gloria's dream is to have her own restaurant and to have sufficient income so that her two children finish school and become working professionals. The loan she received through the communal bank Las Emprendedoras will be used to buy supplies for her tamales. Within the communal bank she is the Secretary and is very thankful for the support that she receives for her business.

Gloria is shown wearing a blue sweater and fuchsia pants. The photo also shows an inactive member.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
