Tem is 51 years old and has four sons who are dependents. She and some of her sons help with the family business of rice farming in the Moung Russey district of Battambang province. For the last 30 years, she has farmed 2.5 hectares of land and earned additional income by planting pineapples. Tem earns about $7 a day and is requesting a loan, her fourth, from Kiva and VisionQuest, for $500 to buy the spare parts she needs to repair her mini-tractor. She hopes this loan will allow her to fix her tractor in time for the next harvest so that she can earn enough money to support her family. She has repaid her previous loans fully and on time.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
