The members of the Benkadi 1 Group are married women with an average age of 35 and five children. They all live in polygamist families in Loutana, one of the villages of Sikasso, the 3rd administrative region of Mali. They have partnered with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farming businesses during the rainy season. They are on their second loan cycle with the institution, after their last loan was repaid.

The crop they grow is sorghum. Kadiatou is pictured standing in the middle of the photo. With her loan, she intends to buy farm inputs and pay for plowing to maintain 1.5 hectares. After harvest, her produce is sold in the village and in the Sikasso market to male and female customers. She expects to make an average of 170,000 francs CFA per season. This income will allow her to pay off her loan and to help her husband with daily expenses.

Les membres du groupe BENKADI 1 sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 35 ans, 5 enfants et vivant toutes dans des familles polygames à Loutana, un des villages de SIKASSO, 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de mener à bien leurs activités agricoles pendant l’hivernage.
Elles sont à leur deuxième prêt avec l’institution, le prêt passé a été bien remboursé.
La spéculation cultivée est le sorgho avec KADIATOU debout au milieu.
Avec son prêt, elle compte acheter les intrants et payer les frais de labours pour entretenir 1,5 hectare.
La production est vendue au niveau du village et au marché de SIKASSO après la récolte à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice moyen de 170.000 FCFA par campagne.
Ce bénéfice lui permettra de payer son prêt et aussi d’aider son mari dans les dépenses quotidiennes.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients.
