Chonje is married and the mother of six children, four of whom attend school. The oldest is 22 and the youngest is 1. For years she has specialized in the sale of local brew from a small stall in her compound. She has experience with loans, this being her third loan with Yehu, and is requesting this loan so as to renovate her store. This will make her customers more comfortable; hence, increase her clientele and fulfill the demands of her customers. With her savings, Chonje wants to contribute to the education of her children and to grow her business. However, she says that she would like to change her business and open a kiosk in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
