Daniel asks for support to finish the building that he started with his own savings, but because they weren't enough he doesn't want to leave the work unfinished and [he also wants] to keep making the house bigger and to build the walls and dividers of the room so in the future he can put up the tiling.

The first benefit [of building the extra room] will be the comfort it will bring to the members of the family, because he wants his children to have their own room so they don't have to be as cramped as they have been so far.

At the moment he has two jobs, one in a company as an "Alijador" [He who separates the seed from cotton wool] and another as a band instructor whilst his wife works in Laredo, Texas as a secretary for a warehouse. They both contribute to pay for their expenses and the maintainance of their children.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
