Celia Iveth
Celia is 20 years old and lives with her life partner, who is a local fisherman, and her son in her mother-in-law house at the shore of a lagoon. Celia sells fresh fish that her husband and other fishermen fish at the lagoon. In addition to the fish, she sells candy, chips, breads and drinks.

She is applying for a loan to Fundación Campo to build a small house of bricks and sheets of metal in the top of the lagoon. When it rains a lot, the water level of the lagoon floods the houses at the bottom of it, and therefore it's necessary to evacuate people and their belongings. With the investment they want to avoid diseases due to the excess of humidity, or even worse, the loss of their lives in a flood situation at night when they are asleep.

Celia wants to build a more secure and permanent house. She also wants to expand her business in order to have enough income, jointly with her life partner, to cover the basic needs of her home. They want to give the opportunity to study to his two year old once he has the age.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
