Chhun is 50 years old and married with three children, who currently are settled for marriage already. Chhun lives with her spouse and some of her children in Prey Chor district, Kompong Cham province. She and her spouse are local farmers, primarily growing rice on their own plantation of about three hectares. She has managed this business for over thirty years, and she can generate approximately USD 10.00 per day. Chhun is a good mother who always cares about her children’s living situation. She will help them as much as possible during her lifetime.
Chhun would like to help one of her sons improve his living standard by encouraging him to attend a vocational course of auto repair, so that he will be able improve his skills and can improve his income later. At the present time, Chhun has requested credit from HKL and Kiva to pay for her son’s vocational training course. She would appreciate it if she could obtain this loan from Kiva lenders.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
