Solomon is from the village of Kinangay Sur in the municipality of Clarin in Misamis Occidental Province. He is 34 years old. Solomon is married and has one child. To make a living, he plants and harvests corn to sell. Solomon has been engaged in this business for 10 years, and he earns 15,000 PHP a month for these activities. In 2004, Solomon joined GDMPC. Solomon is requesting a loan of 30,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase fertilizers, such as manure. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from his business to improve the general living conditions of his family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
