Charles is aged 31 and single and has been in farming for six successive years running his farm with two farmhands engaged on a casual basis. His farm produces maize, vegetables, milk and poultry products.
Charles has requested a loan of 30,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to boost his poultry business by buying more birds. He plans to run a farm of at least 500 in the flock. He says good income from farming will help him build a good foundation for a family by owning assets.
He adds his growth is assured with loan acquisition and he would like Juhudi Kilimo to reach out to more farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
