Iriel is a 29-year-old married mother of three who lives in Militar, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, the Philippines. Iriel has been selling fish for a living for the past six years while her husband does the fishing. Each month, she earns 12,360 Philippine pesos doing this type of work.
Iriel has requested a loan of 18,000 PHP to purchase fishing equipment including hooks and nets. She joined GDMPC in 2008 to gain access to financial services to help improve her business and living situation. In the future, Iriel hopes to improve her business further.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
