María del Carmen is 63 years old, single, and from the teaching profession. She has already retired and received a pension, but it was not enough to live comfortably. For this reason, she started to rent internet service by the hour on the only computer that she had, which was for her personal use. Little by little, by saving all her profits at the start, she managed to buy more computers and conditioned a room in her house to be able to put in rent booths. The loan that she is requesting is for the purchase of some supplies for her computers, such as speakers, screen protectors, headphones, etc. She is very thankful for the support that EDAPROSPO and the KIVA team is offering her so that she is able to grow her business.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
