Communal bank 74-La Nueva Esperanza is made of eight people: six women and two men. Fabiola is the president; she is forty years old and has two children aged five and seven. She sells shoes from her stall located in Nueva Esperanza. This loan is her first cycle with the field partner. Fabiola will use the funds to buy shoes wholesale and thus be able to offer a wider range of products to her customers and improve her earnings. She wants to improve her business. She will use the profits to keep buying a greater variety of shoes. Fabiola is very hardworking and is happy for the opportunity afforded to her and her fellow group members, since some of them are the sole breadwinners in their respective households.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
