Thy, age 51, grows rice and fattens cattle to earn her living. She earns about $3 daily and has been engaged in this work for 20 years. She and her husband have four children and live in Takeo Province, Cambodia.
Her husband (shown with her in the picture) is a construction worker who earns about $4 each day. Two of their children are grown and are employed in a garment factory. They earn about $7 daily.
Thy is requesting a loan of $1,000 to purchase a plot of land to resell at a profitable price. In the future, she would like to expand her business and rebuild her house to make it bigger and more convenient for her family.
