Paola Estefania
Paola is twenty-three years old, and lives in Las Orquídeas in the north of Guayaquil. She rents an apartment with her husband and her ten-month old daughter. She helps her husband with the household finances by selling clothing. She started her business with an aunt whom she used to help while earning a sales commission. Once she learned the business, she started her own business with her husband’s help for the startup capital she needed. Currently, she sells clothing Monday to Sunday, from nine in the morning until six in the evening. She works this way because she already has customers. Among the articles she offers are undergarments, jeans, and blouses. Up until now, Paola has not had any problems because her customers let her know their orders, and she takes care of them and delivers them. She hopes to receive a loan because she would like to invest in more clothing so she can have greater earnings. Her dream is to be able to have her own house and finish her university studies.
