Violet is a resident and a farmer in Nkubu area of Central Kenya. She is aged 52 and married with three adult children. She has been in active farming for over thirty years and produces tea, coffee, bananas and milk for the local market.
Violet has requested a loan of 60,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help her buy dairy feed and construct a zero grazing units for her growing number of dairy cows. She says dairy farming has been registering very good returns but the challenge remains the high costs of feed and more specifically during dry seasons, with adverse effect on income volumes. She remains optimistic the zero grazing units will help mitigate the challenge.
She appreciates Juhudi Kilimo’s efficiency with loan processing.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
