Elgarida is a 50-year-old woman dealing in livestock trade. She borrowed UGX 3,000,000 to buy more bulls for sale. Elgarida has been in that business for the last 10 years and has gained a lot of experience in it.
Elgarida credits her success to her humble beginnings and determination. She says that she started business with only three goats but now, she can sell three bulls on a single market day. Though her earnings are still low, about 30,000 Ugx per week, her business has kept her going and she supplements it with her other sources of income, especially banana sales.
Elgarida says she still faces a challenge of travelling for long distances looking for buyers for her bulls. Though her son helps her out, she has grown old and is no longer strong. She hopes to buy a motorcycle in the near future to aid her movement.
Elgarida still has hope that with financial access, she will be able to achieve her dreams.
