Receive a brotherly greeting from all Peruvians!!! Today, I’d like to present to you the “Las Flores y las Guindas” group composed of 8 members of which the most enthusiastic, responsible and punctual member is Ivana, 42. She sells hardware (building supplies, stone and rock). She started the business because the money she got from her husband’s occasional jobs was insufficient to support her children who are school age. She noticed that there were no hardware stores in the area where she lives so she gathered a bit of capital and started this business. Now, she’s doing very well and wants to increase the sale of plaster because in the area where she lives this is a common building material for housing.

In the future, she hopes to have a better-stocked locale and to better display the merchandise she sells thus supporting her children’s education who she hopes in the future will become good professionals.

She is very grateful for the support Kiva and Edaprospo give her in the pursuit of her dreams. She is wearing a blue jacket and blue shirt. One can also notice that Nancy has her little girl with her. In the upper left hand corner of the photo is Juvencio and Edelmira.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
