Ia is 41 years old. She lives in a small village of Martvili District with her family: her parents, who are pensioners, a brother and a sister. Her brother works in construction and gets service fee for the work. Ia and her family members run an agricultural business. They have two milking cows, a bull, a calf and a pig. Ia milks cows twice in a day and produces cheese. The family sells milk and cheese on the local open market. They also own a vineyard and a plot of land where nut and maize are grown. They work hard on their plot during the spring and summer seasons to get a good harvest. They pick grapes in late summer and produce wine. They sell harvested nuts, maize, produced wine and other vegetables and fruits on the local open market. The total average monthly income of the family is 900 Georgian lari (GEL). The family members work hard; they still don’t have enough income to make some savings for purchasing additional needed household goods or renovation of the house.
Ia requested a loan to increase the stock-in-trade. This will increase the sales from their business and will positively impact the income of the family. With increased income they will be able to renovate the house, because the existing house is old and uncomfortable. After renovation, they will be able to spend their evenings after hard working days in more comfortable environment.
