Abir is a 38-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and three school-aged children. Her husband is the one taking care of his family and covering his children’s education costs. Abir has a big and important role in maintaining and supporting her husband in every single small detail concerning their family. Abir opened an internet shop in her town in 2005. People also meet at her place to enjoy their time with friends, play internet games and take a coffee. Today, she’s in need of a loan from Kiva Partner Ameen s.a.l. to buy more computers in order to enlarge her shop. In that way, she will be able to receive more clients and surely earn higher revenues. In the near future, she’s planning to open a snack shop near her internet shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
