Jafet is 27 years old, and he lives with his wife and son. They live in a community called Osa in Caña Blanca, which is in the Puntarenas province. This community is known for being a rural area, which receives a lot of visitors because of its beautiful beaches, the diversity of its wildlife, and other natural attractions. The main business activities in this area are tourism and agriculture.

Jafet works in his own construction business. He needs tools in order to give his customers better service and to get more income. His is the only income for his household. He has financial needs that only work is able to satisfy.

Jafet has support and help from his wife so that he can carry out his work. He says that there is a great demand for this service, but he needs the appropriate tools in order to do the work.

He is requesting a microloan for one million forty thousand colones (¢1,040,000) in order to buy a soldering machine and other tools that are indispensable for doing this work.

Jafet is a member of the Caña Blancal community loan company, one of 110 organizations associated with EDESA in Costa Rica. He hopes to use this loan to grow further on both a personal and financial level. He also points out that, thanks to this type of organization that provides loans, he will be able to improve his quality of life.

Jafet es un muchacho de 27 años de edad el cual vive con su esposa e hijo, en una comunidad llamada Osa, localizada en Caña Blancal, ubicada en la provincia de Puntarenas. Está comunidad se destaca por ser una zona rural muy visitada por sus lindas playas, su diversidad de vida silvestre y otras atracciones naturales. Sus principales actividades económicas son las turísticas y agropecuarias.
Jafet trabaja en lo propio en el área de la construcción, necesita herramientas para dar mejor servicio a sus clientes y obtener mayores ingresos, ya que la única entrada de dinero en su hogar es la suya, y tiene necesidades económicas las cuales solo con trabajo puede solventar.
Jafet cuenta con el apoyo y la ayuda de su esposa para llevar a cabo su trabajo, dice que hay mucha demanda de este servicio, pero que necesita de las herramientas apropiadas para realizarlo.

El está solicitando un micro crédito de un millón cuarenta mil colones (¢1.040.000) para comprar una máquina de soldar y otras herramientas indispensables para realizar este oficio.

Jafet es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, una de las 110 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Con este préstamo se espera crecer más a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede mejorar su calidad de vida.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
